Work it.

Shirt, skirt and necklace (seen here), NW3. Scarf, Accessorize. Cardigan, unknown. Bag, Primark. Shoes, Melissa for Vivienne Westwood. Earrings and ring, presents.

This outfit is so not me! Elegance and sophistication are not exactly my strengths, and it’s unusual to see me in a skirt with such a prim and proper hemline. The reason for this? As well as my cheetah dress, this raspberry shirt and raven skirt (more on that colour later) are my work uniform. But every now and again I like getting pushed out of my comfort zone – I’m glad I went for something that isn’t really “me” and is therefore more grown-up and serious than my usual self. I guess it’s a good reminder that when the time comes, I will be capable of looking professional and sophisticated!

Does this skirt say “I’m sleek and professional – give me the job”? I think it makes a good ‘interview’ skirt – I’d forgotten how smart pencil skirts can look, and they don’t necessarily have to be that short when one is a little vertically challenged. I also like the ambiguity of its shade. At work we’re all trying to figure out its true colours – the official name is Raven, essentially I think it’s a mix of navy and black.

I met my friend after work today and stayed in my work uniform – the ‘personal touches’ are my omni present Melissa for Vivienne Westwood shoes (although at work I wear heels, which unsurprisingly look a 1000 times better), my ‘label-less’ studded cardigan (found in a pile of unreturned and unwanted fashion cupboard samples) and my silk-like leopard print scarf. I spotted this scarf in Accessorize’s winter ’11 ad campaign and fell in love, it was a surprise to see it looked as nice in the shop as it did in the ad. The bag is a recent super sensible buy that will be getting its own post soon.

Apologies for this rather boring post – I think I’ve lost my blog mojo. I’ve been feeling uninspired lately and can only think about going on holiday, which thankfully is happening next week. Hopefully, going M.I.A. will somehow give me a flash of inspiration… do any of you have any tips/thoughts on how to overcome blogger’s block?
