When I first started this blog I wanted to focus exclusively on what I already have in my wardrobe – and not what I’m hoping to have. But I’m getting the shopping urge again and can’t help but daydream about these precious Vivienne Westwood Anglomania + Melissa boots.
The ones in the picture belong to my friend – and even though the blue and red combo is definitely my favourite colour scheme, I won’t be getting this pair. Not because my friend has them, but because the colour is not me. I find it strange how sometimes a colour just doesn’t suit a person – shouldn’t people be able to wear any colour they fancy? Well, for whatever scientific/optical/cultural reasons, it’s not that simple. When I tried on these boots my instant reaction was ‘no’. I can’t put my finger down on what the ‘problem’ was as such; maybe it was just a tad too bright and therefore overpowering for me to pull off? The boots were wearing me, and unfortunately not vice versa. So, as beautiful as they looked on the counter, they just didn’t work on my feet.
There’s still hope, though. I have my eye on two other versions of this boot, one is off-white with a black bow, and the other is lilac, again with a black bow. I’ll admit they’re not as charming as the bright blue version, but I’m fairly sure my feet will stand a chance with those.
