Hello, long time no blogging… It’s the same excuse as always – life has been really, really busy. And good busy – lots of socialising, festivaling and travelling. All that matched with shockingly good weather in London and you’ve got yourself a happy girl summer – a startling contrast to the fiasco that was summer 2021. Anyway, I had a particularly good weekend at the start of July – three beautifully hot days, three heatwave-friendly outfits that sum up my summer style. So, without further ado…
1. The Coord
Top & skirt, & Other Stories. Bag, Loewe (seen here). Sandals, Zara. Necklace, H&M.
To be fair, I love coords all year around – but there’s something about wearing a coord in the summer that sparks so much joy. It is, essentially, like wearing a dress – but it sort of feels like you’ve made more of an effort? Anyway, this top and skirt combo was an & Other Stories sales treat that makes me feel instantly put together.
2. The Dress
Dress, Zara. Sandals, Next (seen here).
It seems like the dress will forever be my summer uniform – and every summer there will likely be one dress that really, really makes an impact. This year, it may be this pink Zara dress. I think the white version of it went (ugh) viral, and I can see why – there really is something about it. The fit, on me, is far from perfect – but I loved it and feel amazing every time I wear it. However, the reason it will make its mark this summer is because of all the good memories I’ve been making in it.
3. Shorts & A Cute Top
Top and sandals, Zara. Shorts, River Island. Bag, Kurt Keiger. Earrings, hand-me-downs from my mum. Necklace, Accessorize.
On those rare summer occasions in which I’m not wearing a coord or dress, I’ll revel in a cute top that makes me feel super summery and happy. I adore this cherry top I got in the Zara sale – it has a slight retro vibe that makes me feel cute and chic. I suppose it would look nice with jeans, but I’m not much of ‘jeans and a nice top’ girl when the temperatures rise. And if there was ever a time for shorts…
So there we go – these three outfits are a pretty accurate reflection of my summer style for 2022. Groundbreaking? Not in the slightest. Satisfying? 100%.
