What I Wore Last Week (& A Brief Dissection of My Autumn/Winter 2021 Style)

Guess what – I can believe that it’s December, that the year is almost over and that I’ve once again ghosted my blog. But what better way to come back than with a little collection of #ootd’s? Outfit recording is my favourite thing and I miss doing my Monday to Friday edits, so it was nice to get to do it before 2022 comes along…

So, this is what I wore last week, not this week, since my social calendar has been very quiet the last few days and I’ve been at home 99% of the time. I will be working from home until further notice, so it’s back to cosy (but cute) knits and lots of pyjama bottoms for the foreseeable future. Another reason why I’m glad I got one last week of IRL dressing!

Monday: New Look cardigan / River Island jumper / Zara skirt / Accessorize bag / Vintage earrings / Topshop boots

My afterwork plan was a cinema outing, “House of Gucci”. My style isn’t anything remotely Gucci-esque, but I felt it was only right to attempt to look mildly cute – and cosy, because it’s been cold AF lately.

Tuesday: Zara jumper (new) / Mango earrings & bag / House of Holland skirt / Topshop boots / Vintage necklace

I’m pretty sure I had already planned this outfit for Tuesday before going to the cinema on Monday evening – but I’d still like to think that this showcases how “House of Gucci” was coming out of my fashion pores. Either way, it is, by far, my favourite outfit of the week – I loved colour blocking emerald green and hot pink, and pairing this necklace with my turtleneck was a revelation (and that’s a touch that was definitely prompted by “House of Gucci”).

Wednesday: Florence + Fred jumper / Liquorish skirt (new) / Zara bag / Lady Cacahuete boots

This was a ‘working from home but I’ll be running some errands at lunch’ outfit. I wouldn’t wear it again as the jumper’s shade, fit and texture isn’t quite right for this skirt, but I would 100% style the skirt with another pink top or knit – because pink and red will always have my heart.

Thursday: Warehouse jumper / Diane Von Fürstenberg skirt / French Connection bag / Oasis boots / Primark beret / ASOS tights (new)

This was sadly my last day working in the office until further notice (thank you, Omicron) so I naturally had to go out with a bang. Well, a pretty in pink and blue bang – a little classic, mostly quirky, pretty colourful bang.

Friday: Abercrombie & Fitch jumper dress (new) / Lulu Guinness bag / Lady Cacahuete boots

If there is one thing that’s become an absolute Autumn/Winter wardrobe staple for me it’s a jumper dress – especially if it’s basically a long turtleneck. I’ve been wanting a red jumper dress for yonks – this one was a little pricey, but 100% worth it.

Saturday: Missguided jumper dress / Lulu Guinness bag / Lady Cacahuete boots / Accessorize hat / ASOS tights (new)

The queen of all jumper dresses – I don’t always gravitate towards black, but this LBKD (knitted*) is a perfect ‘running errands but I want to look cute and effortless, maybe do a spot of spontaneous shopping and maybe go for a pub lunch’ day.

Sunday: & Other Stories jumper / Zara shorts / Russell & Bromley bag / Gipsy via ASOS tights / River Island boots / Monica Vinader earrings

Sunday was not an eventful day – it involved nothing more than a little Primark browsing and food shopping. Normally I wouldn’t wear such a thought-out outfit, but I really felt like recreating this look I’d seen on Instagram – and I have to say I loved the result; it’s my second favourite outfit of the week.

I’d like to think these seven outfits are a good reflection of what my current Autumn/Winter style. I mean, it’s nothing too new – and most of these pieces have been in my wardrobe for a while. Colour for winter? Groundbreaking – that could easily be my A/W motto. I’ve been coming across a lot of colour blocking Instagrammers lately and it’s definitely reinforced my eternal love for high-intensity shades. I also can’t be without my playful accessories – the must-haves for spicing up any safe outfit.

And as winter is only just beginning, hopefully I’ll be sharing more chilly-ready outfits over the next few months – even if we may all be COVID-hibernating!

Pictures taken between the 6th and 12th of December in London.
