There is probably no point in talking about my fashion pet peeves as much as I do, because every time I do, I end up proving how fickle I am. The latest contradiction in my fashion life is tie-dye – a look I have loved to hate for as long as I can remember. I hated it at its ‘peak’ in the nineties, and I would very much say I hate it now. But then I did buy this dress…
In the second instalment of my summer dress series, allow me to introduce you to my new favourite contradiction – this adorable dress from Zara. I was ‘influenced’ – I saw it on a blogger and fell in love straight away, I couldn’t have cared less about the fact that it’s technically got a tie-dye effect. Firstly, it’s an incredibly subtle print – I don’t even know if I would have described it as tie-dye. Secondly, I love the soft blue and minty hues – so, so much better than the wacky shades normally associated with tie-dye. Thirdly, I love the style and fit – in a similar vain to my other most recent dress from Zara, it’s loose and floaty and a little bit baby doll like. Not something I would normally gravitate to, but for some reason this style is working for me in 2021.
Dress, Zara. Necklace, Yoj. Bracelets, H&M, & Other Stories, gift. Ring, Accessorize. Bag, Loewe. Shoes, Stradivarius.
So, am I a tie-dye convert? Hell no. I will still stay away from it 99% of the time. Unless I come across another creation that fills my heart in the way this dress does. Then maybe we can talk. I may be fickle, but I have my limits.
