So let’s start with an obvious statement – at a glance, this outfit is not very me. 90% of the times I wear something black, I’ll be matching it with white, red or some other bright shade. I love and live for colour, hence why my relationship with black is a tricky one. My black hair is as much black as I need in my life! But every now and again, I’ll fall under its easy charms.
The black in my wardrobe consists mainly of turtleneck jumpers, which have become an absolute winter essential for my everyday style, and fitted skirts, which used to be one of my failsafe separates (there are a ton of old outfit posts on this blog to prove that). But this jumper has proved that it’s not just about turtlenecks, but statement sleeves too!
I couldn’t resist the layered flute sleeves, ruffled detailing on the shoulders and white piping – it’s such a cute statement jumper. I have a confession to make though – it also came in pink and yellow, which I initially didn’t know about, and had I known there was a pink version I probably would have been predictable and gone for that one! But I don’t regret going back to black…
The only thing I don’t like about this top is its cropped length, which for an abs shy girl like me makes it hard to style. But this skirt by now defunct French brand Axara proved that after all these years black body-con jersey skirts still come to my rescue.
And don’t the faux pearls on this choker by SheIn tie in perfectly with the white detailing on this jumper? I actually love this choker to bits, it’s so chic without being too 90’s and really eye-catching. I’d never bought anything from SheIn before, what do you guys think of these Asian online retailers?
I naturally had to break up the blackness but still kept things quite neutral with my
only favourite grey bag, this Chloe-esque bag by Sugar + Style.
These pictures were taken in Petřín Park in Prague – even though it was March the weather was amazing that day, which made the views even prettier.
Oh, and that thing I said earlier about wearing black with a brighter colour? This ootd was no exception – I loved leaving all the colour up to my Topshop coat.
Now that summer is around the corner, don’t expect to see a lot of black on the blog – (reasonably) good weather makes me want to wear even more colour! I’ve got only a few more wintery looks to share, and can’t wait to start sharing more layer-free looks.
