Bushes & Statement Sleeves

There’s a part of me that’s not really all that bothered about this look and really, really wants to gush about these magnificent bushes. I mean, aren’t they just the bomb? Burt more on that later.

First up, you know I’m all about statement sleeves. I fell in love with this trend last season and was delighted to exploit it for as long as I could throughout spring too – because let’s face it, London is sometimes so freaking cold that it can be months before a lot of us Londoners get our arms out.

A new variation of statement sleeves, tie up sleeves became a thing last season, when this infamous and painstakingly beautiful J.W. Anderson jumper inspired a few replicas across the high-street. I have mixed feelings about designer rip-offs, but sometimes I can’t resist a good designer dupe. Mango did a lovely version of it, but I found the Spanish retailer’s take on the sleeves way too intimidating. I eyed up this one from Chicwish – beautifully called ‘The Way To Wonderland’ – for a month (or more) and finally decided to go for it.

I can’t say my experience with Chicwish was a positive one, it just took way too long! I waited over a month for it to arrive (and in the meantime found and couldn’t resist getting a pretty lookalike from Dorothy Perkins, shared on my Instagram), and once it finally arrived I couldn’t be bothered to return it. The acrylic fabric doesn’t feel that great, and the one size fit isn’t that flattering on moi. It’s not all negatives though, I loooove the tie up detail on the sleeves. It’s so romantic and chic! And hey, it’s not even that hard to eat with these sleeves…

I teamed this jumper with my beloved copper skirt by Miss Selfridge. Sometimes I love wearing statement sleeves with pleated skirts – they both have a vintage vibe that can work well together.

These pictures were taken in Prague, in the Prague Castle complex – it was probably my favourite thing about the whole complex!

There’s something very pleasing about a bunch of perfectly cut bushes – these were just way too Instagrammable.

Next to all those bushes was this beautiful spot of greenery – isn’t there something very Disney-like about it?

Jumper, Chicwish (available here). Skirt, Miss Selfridge. Earrings, River Island. Bag, Sugar + Style. Ring, from Hong Kong. Shoes, House of Avenues.

Soz about the change of scenery in the last two pictures, but I just love these two street pics! I fell for the pink wall, dragon plaque and ever so slightly creepy vines…

I’d say this is finally the last wintery look I’ll be sharing on the blog – woop! Expect more colour and dresses coming up soon…

Pictures taken in Prague, Czech Republic, on March 5th, 2017.
