Dolphins… who would have thought? It’s been a while since I’ve flirted with animalistic novelty prints but when I saw this combo on a friend’s friend I fell in love.
I wasn’t initially interested in the coordinating top and shorts or skirts trend (I prefer a matching jacket and pair of shorts) and in all honesty I don’t know if I’ll be wearing these two pieces together that often – it’s so out of my comfort zone! I enjoyed it but, even for me, it felt very OTT. I love each piece on its own – I’m picturing the top with skinny jeans when it gets a little cooler and the shorts with pretty much any plain top in my wardrobe!

My friend’s friend got both the top and shorts from a shop either in or near BoxPark, although I found my set on this website for £24.99 – very reasonable for a top and pair of shorts me thinks. There was only an M/L available and it is a little roomy but not too bad…
I couldn’t keep things too simple and had to throw in a gigantic fat necklace that reads Cool, obviously. It’ll probably be one of those What was I thinking pieces? but for now I love its obviousness!
Now let me introduce you to this baby blue baby that I never managed to formally introduce last summer. At first I had a love/hate relationship with it when it turned up at my workplace and just couldn’t get my head around it. Such an odd shape and style, reminiscent of a 5-year old’s coat. How could such a strange piece, confused about what season it should belong to and therefore seemingly without any purpose in life, look so good on so many people? It doesn’t actually look great on me but I somehow fell in love with it and took it home with me once it went down 70% in the summer sale. Oh, you little strange quilted wonder…
These pictures were taken on June 30th, and I remember feeling just a little chilly that day – I’d probably boil to death if I were to wear it now considering the amazing weather we’ve been having in London the past few days. I wore this combo for Masterpiece London 2014, an incredible
art event that I’d shamefully never heard of before and which I can’t
wait to write about in a separate post!
