Chapter 56: The Palm Tree pants

Trousers, Boutique by Jaeger (June Shopping list, seen here). T-shirt, Hobbs (May Shopping list). Brogues, Clarks (seen here and here). Bag, French Connection (last seen here). Earrings, New Look (seen here). Necklace, H&M (seen here). Ring, Bershka. Bracelet, Whistles (last seen here). Watch, ASOS.

It’s bizarre how I find trousers to be out of my comfort zone, and yet as of late I’ve found myself irresistibly attracted to these kinds of pieces – these are another addition to my mini collection of printed trousers, the others seen here, here and here. These are probably the most in-your-face out of the four – they’re not exactly discreet, are they? It seems like go bold or go home is my new motto in the trouser department.

I was instantly drawn to these trousers when I spotted them in British Glamour’s July issue – although at £99, they were to be admired from a distance. Fashion fate was on my side though, since they went down to £49 probably right after appearing in Glamour – I bought them within a few days after seeing them in the mag! As I waffled on about in my previous post, I don’t normally like to spend that kind of amount, but I love them to bits (as well as being a huge Boutique by Jaeger fan), the cut is lovely and yes, they do indeed feel like good quality. Plus, the length is perfect – it’s great when shorties like me don’t have to worry about getting trousers altered!

I adore the print -it’s a good kind of tacky and so much fun! I should really go to Miami one day just to get it out of my system…

The only issue I have with them is that I think they’ve stretched within one wear! I should know these things since I work in retail, but it seems like cotton stretches like crazy?! I’m hoping they’ll be ok after a wash…

Leopard print and palm trees – not as terrible as one would expect…

I wore this outfit yesterday for a snoop around the always entertaining Brick Lane, and was actually pretty hot in these! I know that by conservative fashion standards they’re summer trousers that aren’t appropriate for winter (snoooze), but I think I could make them work all year round somehow. Maybe with a pair of tan or beige ankle boots? I think it’s time for a winter shopping list after all…
