Blog B’Day

Today is a small big deal for me today, as my blog turns three! I can’t believe it’s been that long – as a blogger, I’ve had my ups and my downs, serious commitment issues and more than one case of blogger’s block. But it’s all been worth the ride – for now, I love doing my blog more than anything and hope to continue for as long as possible. I now have a perspective on my wadrobe and style that I probably wouldn’t have been so aware of had I not started blogging. So, looking back at some of my most memorable looks (memorable because they’re the ones that I can personally remember best), here are a few style elements about me that always pop up on the blog…

1. I love colour… I used to wear a lot of black and this definitely backfired – I now can’t bare to not wear something colourful, especially if I’m wearing black. I am particularly obsessed with a colour combination: green and pink in all their shapes and forms, whether it’s mint and pastel pink or turquoise and jamaica pink.

2. …And black and white. Monochrome may be huge for this SS’13, but this fail-safe trend has always been one of my go-to looks, either in the form of stripes, houndstooth or simply colour-blocking. Easy, sophisticated and fun, it’s also infinitely versatile and will most certainly continue to be a favourite of mine after this spring!

3. Leopard print is da one. Whilst not exactly an unconditional fan, I’ve become fairly brave with prints – be they floral, conversational, or other animal species – but no other print can measure up to leopard. I still get excited when I see it – it’s become my neutral shade and I feel completely myself in it.

4. Having a blog has had an influence on my style. Is this blog-worthy? This question crosses my mind a lot when I pick an outfit. Getting dressed knowing that you’re going to showcase your outfit on the internet puts things into perspective, and experimenting and trying new things is inevitable. It’s a bizarre and intimidating thing to do, but it’s also fun and usually very gratifying. I can say for a fact that there are a lot of looks I wouldn’t have tried had I not started blogging or become a fan of many other wonderful fashion blogs out there.

So, I finish this post as I first started my blog – with a picture of my current wardrobe (check out my limited first post here to see what I mean). Divided in two sections, pretty much all of my stuff is there (although I do have a small shelf for some of my knitwear as well). To say it’s full is an understatement – a clear out is way overdue, and yes, I have too many bags as well.

Not much else to say, other than a big fat thank you to those of you who take the time to visit my little world – these visits make me happy! As I’m still on holiday, I will come back to my blog properly next week with plenty of outfit posts and personal musings on style and so on!
