Burgundy.

Oh blog, how I’ve missed you! October tends to be a crazy busy month for me and this year hasn’t been an exception – sadly, I’ve not managed to find much time for outfit pictures. Not that I’ve been looking my best as of late – the ‘switch-over’ (nude tights to black tights, jackets to coats, lightweight tops to layers and layers of knitwear) is always a tough one. Still, I’ve found some good alleys for the (very) low temperatures we’ve been having in London, as well as a new colour to obsess about.

What I love about fashion is how it makes you discover, fall completely in love with and realise how much you needed a certain colour in your life. Last year it was mustard, and this year it’s… wine, deep red, oxblood, berry, aubergine (oh yes, it’s been referred to that way) – is there any other colour with quite so many names? In any case, I choose to refer to it as burgundy. Such a warm, elegant shade, perfect for winter. More modest than red, burgundy has been making my heart beat pretty fast lately. It’s unexpectedly versatile and goes wonderfully with my all-time favourite print, leopard. It won’t ever take over my love for red, but I don’t see why the two colours can’t live harmoniously in my wardrobe.

You can imagine what really grabbed me about this dress. It wasn’t so much the shade that I was about to fall in love with, but the intricate and irresistible scallop/laser-cut trimmings. I didn’t think this dress would suit me, but the minute I tried it on, there was no looking back – it definitely triggered my love affair with burgundy.

On a different note, check out this origami swan from H&M. I have a feeling it’s inspired by some more expensive brand or brands (I’m sure I saw something similar in Paris with a scary price tag), but naturally this was a wallet-friendly option that I love to bits because of its quirkiness and originality (let’s forget the part that it was probably ‘inspired’ by something else).

Dress and cardigan, NW3. Necklace, H&M. Ring, Forever 21. Bag, Jaeger (seen here). Earrings and boots, Primark.

This is moi looking a bit scared (I think I was cold), sorry about not showing the dress in all its glory – you can check it out properly here. And you might have noticed some very glittery boots… all I can say for now is that they’ve changed my life and will definitely be getting their own post soon. Watch this space and happy November to all.
