The Ellen show

Ellen von Unwerth is one of my favourite fashion photographers. Her touches of humour and sexiness along with splashes of colour and spontaneity make her work instantly recognizable and very appealing. She may have gone mainstream – River Island’s S/S’12 campaign, anyone? – but her vision is still as unique as always, if not better and more fun even. So I was delighted to hear that Michael Hoppen Gallery was holding an exhibition featuring some of her more recent work. Do Not Disturb! presents a series of photographs taken at an LA resort called The Madonna Inn (apparently it’s really famous, I’d never heard of it before – oops) – hence the fantastic interiors, decadent vibes and playful naughtiness, von Unwerth’s usual trademarks. The exhibition is on until the 31st of August so for all of you Londoners out there who love Ellen as much as I do, there’s still plenty of time to enjoy the iconic photographer’s work. It’s a small space and not many photographs, but hey, it’s quality not quantity. Then again, as a last resort, there’s always this post. Enjoy.
