There’s something about mustard (part 1)

Shirt, New Look. Skirt, Sonia Rykiel for H&M (seen here). Earrings, ASOS. Necklace, Accessorize. Belt (seen here) and ring, Primark. Ankle boots, borrowed from a friend.

Every now and again I ‘discover’ a colour and fall in love. That’s what happened this winter with mustard. I don’t think I’d ever really noticed this colour before – my only consideration for mustard was the one that I like to avoid when it comes to food. But now, inevitably influenced by the unstoppable rise of mustard on the high-street, I do exactly the opposite in the wardrobe department. A strong colour (just like the paste itself), I didn’t think it would suit me, but after approaching it with caution, found a few pieces that work just fine.

This shirt was a true sale bargain – I found it for £5 in New Look. Whilst I love the elegant-yet-relaxed feel it has, it was definitely the colour that made me go for it. Funnily enough, it’s classified as a ‘tall’ piece, hence the longish sleeves – tucking in really does help though!

Is it me or does mustard have a slightly 80’s vibe to it?

I liked putting a necklace around the collar, although I’m planning on buying a bit of black velvet and having a similar look to my navy Primark blouse. Hopefully, the results will be blog-worthy.

Is there a slight bumble bee look to this outfit? I guess I’d need to throw in a few more stripes…

Looking stylish as ever Vanessa 🙂 I know the colour mustard tends to have a bit of a marmite effect on people, but personally I love it! Hope you're well xxx
